I’m super happy with my current reads. So far, I’ve finished 2 books (Born a Crime and The Omnivore’s Dilemma) and both were easy 5-star reads. My goal each year is to read 1 book a month, and I’m pretty much on track.

Yayy available na sa Libby

Right now, I’m switching it up with fiction and I’m currently reading The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez. I’m really enjoying it. The kilig is kiliging. People on the internet say that if you love Emily Henry’s books, you’ll probably like Abby Jimenez too—and it looks like they’re right. I’m picky with romance novels so I’m glad to have found another reliable author for my romance fix besides Emily Henry.

Today’s Log #22 | Days Lately

February 13, 2025

6:00 AM

Woke up, shat, wrote on my digital journal about yesterday’s happenings, read a newsletter, saw vomit (probably Walnut’s) and cleaned that up, fed the kitties, and scooped their litter. This is my morning routine nowadays.

8:00 AM

I decided I’ll have the pork ribs from Costco. I can air-fry them from frozen, so it’s a quick prep. I still have some roasted veggies from yesterday that I can pair it with. Kaso ang dry. Wala akong sauce or dip. So I asked ChatGPT for suggestions and settled on an easy sauce using ingredients I already have: garlic butter soy sauce. I can pour it over the crispy ribs to give them a little bit of moisture.

I’m half-listening to Trevor Noah’s podcast while making the sauce. I think they’re talking about the loneliness epidemic.

9:00 AM

K lang.

We’re finally out of the Airbnb and settling into our new home. Kahit medyo matindi pa yung amoy ng pintura the first few days at wala kaming kagamit-gamit, being here brought us comfort. It immediately felt like home 😌 Dati hindi ko pa ina-acknowledge yung notion of buying a house. After reading some articles about renting vs buying, sabi ko kay Kenneth noon mag-rent na lang kami forever. Mas nakikita ko yung bahay as a liability, rather than an investment. Pero nung na-sense ko kay Kenneth na gusto nya talaga, I welcomed the idea. At ngayong tumitira na kami dito, I’m thankful for Kenneth’s insistence. Sobrang excited namin about anything house related. Every new thing na nadadagdag sa bahay, big or small, nakakakilig.

Masamang Balita

May nagtanong sakin dati, bakit ako komportable magkwento dito whether nakakahiya, nakaka-proud, nakaka-conscious, nakakalungkot, etc. Kasi parang ang hirap daw. Bakit daw ang dali lang sakin. Wala akong instant na naisagot. Kasi for the longest time, I just write without actually questioning it.

Ramblings #41 | Pasalubongs
