What I Spend in a Week | Household “Essentials”

You’re reading this because you’re a paid subscriber. Thank you! 🤍

First, my best buy and bye-bye of the week:

Best Buy

This $10.37 paper blinds. As in papel lang talaga sya, but it does the job.

How Much We Spent in 2024

You’re reading this because you’re a paid subscriber. Thank you! 🤍

This was the year we purchased a home, and naturally, we spent a lot. I remember feeling proud seeing that significant amount of money in our bank account—only to have it gone in a matter of days because we had to put it straight into the deposit. Nevertheless, after living in this house for three weeks now, I do feel that it was worth it. Lahat ng mga nagsasabing, “Iba kapag may sarili na kayong bahay” or “It’s nice to have a place you can call your own”—ngayon ko lang sila naiintindihan. Iba nga. And I love and savor this feeling.

Just like before, I’ll start with a snapshot of our average monthly spending for 2024, then show the numbers after. I already know na yung ‘food’ category ang makakakuha ng largest share of the pie (excluding savings and investments). Pakiramdam ko may something wrong na mas mataas pa yung nagagastos namin sa pagkain kesa sa rent at bills. Parang kelangan talagang may magbago. Hays. Ang hirap kasi talagang labanan ng impulse. Tapos samahan mo pa ng katamaran? Wala na. Limot na ang pagtitipid.

What I Spend in a Week | Utangs + Dreaming of Business Class + Money Worries

You’re reading this because you’re a paid subscriber. Thank you! 🤍

I hate utang. Speaking of mga utang-utang, I have a few thoughts about this.

Allergic ako sa utang. Ang isa pa kong allergic, fees and interest rates. Kung mangutang man ako (which is very very rare), hindi mo ako kailangang singilin.

What I Spend in a Week | Sugar Addict

You’re reading this because you’re a paid subscriber. Thank you! 🤍

I’m sad to say that I’m a bubble tea addict. Kulang ang meal pag walang sugary drink. I can feel it in my bonez.

What I Spend in a Week | New York Edition

You’re reading this because you are a paid subscriber. Thank you! 🤍

First, my best buy and bye-bye of the week. I am going to exclude all food items because I’m just going to list almost everything we ate.

Best Buys

I am no collector of anything. Some people are into shoes, bags, books, toys, etc. But personally, I just couldn’t relate. I feel like I’m hoarding. It seems impractical. To be clear, I don’t mean this as a badge of honor, I’m just saying what makes sense in my head. I don’t see the point in having five pairs of shoes when I only wear one pair at a time. I rotate between two pairs, one black and one white. It’s just so easy to pair with anything.

I guess I’m also too lazy to style and mix and match. If I only have two pairs, and if it’s black and white, it would only take me 2 seconds to decide which one I want to wear that day. If I were a guy, I would probably one of those annoying men who owns a stack of the same black shirt and just wear those everyday.

$26 ~ A crybaby blind box

I’m the total opposite of my mom who loves bags and has a cabinet full of decorative plates and cups on display. It’s also possible that the more I see my mother collect these bags that are taking up so much space in her already crowded room, the more I veer away from being that way. I share all of these little anecdotes about practicality only to say that, the moment I saw this crybaby things, something has shifted haha. Suddenly, I wanted to get my hands on these cute little things! I guess I just hadn’t found anything I was truly drawn to—until that evening when we were strolling around this random mall and saw a Pop Mart vending machine.

Cutesicles!

Having made a blog post of me being such a crybaby, this blind box toy spoke to me. It’s just so me! When I saw the side of the box with all the possible crybabies I could get, I’d be happy with any of them. Huhu they’re all so adorable. And those teary eyes? Ugh, too cute. I think my favorites are 01 and 06.

This is what I got. UGH. Sinong hindi makakatiis 🥹🥰

Quarterly Expenses | What’s Ruining our Budget

You’re reading this because you are a paid subscriber. Thank you! 🤍

Doing our quarterly expenses is completely new to me. I usually just compare our expenses month to month and that’s it. But every month is different, so I think calculating the quarterly average would give a more useful snapshot of our spending. I’ll provide the percentages first, then give a detailed breakdown with the numbers.

2024 Game Plan

Bago ako pumunta sa theme ko this year, babalikan ko muna ng very quick yung late mid-year check ko for 2023. May isa pa kong goal na na-accomplish so from 77%, 85% na ang success rate ng 2023 game plan ko! Yayyy! Nakaka-excite tuloy mag-goal setting next year.

So out of 16 goals, I achived 13 😊

I’m looking forward to reminisce the past months.

Etsy Ads Suck

A couple of months ago, I started paying for Etsy ads. What it does is when a potential customer search for something that’s similar to what I offer, my listing will get prioritization and will be placed on the top search. I alloted $1 per day for these Etsy ads hoping to drive more sales ($1 a day is a lot for my small sticker shop). During these months of running ads, I barely make anything. Every sale I make goes to these ad payments and it’s not even driving more sales. There were times when I even owe them money because my sales weren’t compensating for the ad payments. So a few weeks ago, I stopped paying for the ads. Seeing my money disappear like that, having a negative balance on my payment dashboard, it was starting to get depressing.
