What I Spend in a Week: Tears Were Shed

It’s time for Best Buy and Bye-Bye of the week!

Best Buy

I think my best buy for this specific week would be these monthly tab stickers. I use them for my planners, so whenever I get the chance, like right now, I try to hoard them kasi sa Pinas ko lang sila nabibili. Eh itong from @onthedotph sa Shopee, minimalist design lang, tapos less than a dollar lang per sticker sheet. ₱20 nga lang sya dati, ngayon ₱40 na. Pero mura pa rin naman compared dito.

First time kong makabili sa kanya nung 2024. Bumili ako ng tatlo (which is good for 3 years) para lang i-try muna. Bumili na ko ng good for 6 years.

2024-2026

Bye-Bye

I have major dislike for dry burgers and sandwiches kaya lagi akong naka-extra dressing.

So I took it for granted.

Kasama namin yung family ng tito ko from Winnipeg two weeks ago. Meron kasi silang a-attendan na kasal dito sa Canmore and nag-book sila ng Airbnb for 3 nights kasama kami. Tapos may pasalubong sila samin na tatlong crispy pata! Hihi. Na-miss kong makipag-bonding sa kanila and it’s always nice to have family around kahit mabilis lang.

I could probably snack 50 pieces in one go super easily. Pero okay na rin ‘to kaysa dun sa mga recent snacking ko ng BBQ potato chips and milk chocolate quinoa crisps. I’m all for healthier options.

Since mahilig ako sa sweet and salty situation, I paired the veggie crackers with my favourite dark chocolate bites. Na-satisfy naman ako sa snack ko bago ko kainin yung last meal of the day ko at 2:30PM—garlic shrimp and farro bowls with cannellini beans, feta, and spinach from HelloFresh. Proud nanaman ako kasi nasunod ko yung unintentional healthy theme for the day.

Happy Things #31: Valentine’s Day Edition

You have full access to this post because you’re a paid subscriber. Thank you! 🤍

It’s a date!

Yung mga upcoming classes, puro sold out agad. Fortunately, hindi pa sold out yung Valentine’s day couples class nila nung ready na kaming mag-book.

What I Spend in a Week: Ang Ayoko sa Canada…

Before we go to the weekly breakdown, as usual, Best Buy and Bye-Bye of the week muna:

Best Buy

Easily, it’s the honey butter red bean toast na binili namin sa Mari Bakeshop. Homaygash sobrang sarap!!!

$7

Na may red bean and cream? Eh. Since minsan lang kami mag-drive ng malayo papunta sa bakery na ‘to, I want to make it count. It was their ‘weekend special’.

Pero pagkagat ko, it was perfectly flaky and crumbly. Una kong natikman yung tamis ng pagka-honey butter nung toast (yum), tapos biglang may creaminess contrast nung fresh cream and red bean paste (ugh!)

Pramis nakaka-amaze talaga yung sarap. Nung gabi during our weekly couple’s sesh at nagtanungan kami ng things to be grateful for, yung honey butter red bean toast ang sinagot nya. Ganun sya ka-impactful.

Bye-Bye

My cooking enthusiasm continues! Tuwang tuwa ako sa pagluluto ko recently. Ang dami nya kasing benefits:

  • hindi nasasayang yung mga binili naming gulay
  • nakakatipid kami at nasusunod ang food budget namin
  • homecooked meals are healthier
Chia pudding with blueberry-blackberry jam and peanut butter

Na-counter nung honey yung asim kaya palatable na sya for me.

Since puro karne kami last time, naisipan kong lutuin naman yung salmon. Simpleng bake lang with garlic butter. I partnered it with quinoa and veggies para ma-utilize ko yung zucchini at bellpeppers. Gusto ko lang ng konting crunch kaya nilagyan ko ng potato chips on the side.

Binagoongang tokwa’t baboy with talong

Good Food

Life Updates | Game Plans + Funny People + Frozen Embutido

Every year, I make a post about the goals I want to achieve for that year (I call it my game plan). But this year, I decided to keep my 2026 goals private until the end of the year. Since there won’t be a game plan post this year, dito ko na lang ilalagay yung naging outcome nung 2025 goals ko:

2025 RESULTS

  1. Maintain an organized and clean home 😊
  2. Visit PH again, this time for Mama’s 60th birthday 😊
  3. Take one or two C level French classes 👎🏼
  4. Don’t go a 3rd day without working out—or doing yoga at the very least 👎🏼
  5. No sugar Monday 👎🏼
  6. Practice having my last meal at 3 or 4PM 😊
  7. Start building 3 months worth of emergency fund 😊
  8. Invest more than we did last year 😊
  9. Find a remote job 👎🏼

Out of the 9 goals I set, I was able to achieve 5.

So pag may pumunta sa bahay namin at nadumihan sila, it’s a them problem 😂

Deleted my social media apps (except Threads). I just said goodbye to TikTok and *with a conflicted heart* Instagram. Where am I gonna find my recipes? Where am I gonna share my cooking and baking and our cute kitties? But my willpower prevailed, and I’m going to try and stick with it for as long as I can.

I don’t think an explanation is needed for this move because, at various points in our life, all of us wanted to take a real break from these apps. And last week, I had the guts to go cold turkey and just live a quieter life. I’ll get my recipes somewhere else and I’ll still be able to share stuff here.
