I was excited to go stationery store hopping in New York—especially whenever I see Raquel’s NYC posts and videos. Well, I was excited in general because it was our first time visiting the States. Being first-timers, there were a lot of things in our itinerary, but I’m glad I was able to squeeze in some time to go to stationery stores.

I managed to check out four shops, and I wasn’t really looking for anything in particular—I just went with whatever caught my interest. It might be dangerous to wander into these stores without some kind of a list, but my journaling friends tell me that I have the most restraint when it comes to stationery shopping, so I trusted myself that I won’t go overboard 😁
I tried my best to categorize and list each item—using an emoji key to note where I got everything. I also threw in some random items I picked up.

I have an A6 Hobonichi day-free as my all-in-one planner, and one of the most useful spreads I use is the calendar view. But I find myself being too precious about not putting the events directly in the boxes until they’ve actually happened—in case they get canceled or postponed. So I end up listing the events in the sidebar first.
The problem is, I don’t have a visual of what my schedule could potentially look like in the coming weeks because they’re all just listed on the side. And since I’m listing the events as they come up, they’re in no particular order, which makes it more confusing. That’s why I wanted a small extra planner that I can carry around—with only calendar pages—that I won’t be too precious about. Hence the two-year planner I got at Strand. It’s an August 2024 start so I’m already testing it out. It’s thin and handy, making it easy to toss into my small crossbody bag.

I got the small notebooks (#2 and #3) because in May, I started carrying a tiny notebook with me to jot anything that pops into my head while I’m at work. I have to write it down immediately or else I’ll forget it. I also listen to a lot of podcasts while working, so I note the time stamps of episodes I’d want to revisit later. Since I can’t always use my phone during work, it’s easier to write all that mental chatter into my handy dandy notebook—which also makes it seem like I’m busy working. I just filled up my first one and I now have a stack of small notebooks waiting in line.

I knew I wanted NY-themed stickers and this vintage sticker set I saw at Strand was just perfect. It’s only US$12 and it has 24 sticker sheets in 12 different designs. I love it!

I started getting pins to decorate my Delfonics pouch. Now it kind of looks like a version of my mother’s fridge where the pouch is the fridge and my pins are the fridge magnets.

And that’s everything! I’m going to miss New York. I wish we could’ve stayed a day or two longer.
Also, I didn’t bother bringing my notebooks because I knew I wouldn’t be able to journal while traveling. I tried it before—tried writing during small pockets of free time—but it never works out for me. I feel rushed. And I need to feel relaxed and cozy when I journal. I’ll just continue working on that backlog now that I’m back home.
I hope you enjoyed this. Thanks for reading!🤍
