Day 2: Badlands + Best Poutine + Shopping Part 2 | AB-BC Trip 2023 Series

Drumheller, AB • July 31

Jurassic Park

But worth it! Ang ganda ng mga nakita namin. Day 3 is Drumheller day. Ang sabi sa research ko about this place ay:

This region is known as the Canadian Badlands. It is home to the largest deposits of dinosaur bones in the world

But first, breakfast.

📍 Orkney Viewpoint

Now that I think about it, parang isa ‘to sa mga rare occasions na hindi ako yung nag-plan ng travel. Masaya din talaga na mag-go with the flow lang at wala masyadong iniisip.

Di sya ma-capture ng phone ko pero in person, it looks so beautiful and grand.

Crossing Red Deer River

📍 Horsethief Canyon

Getting up close and personal. Eto yung mas wow. Super breathtaking views.

Ang fun fact sa Horsethief Canyon ay:

It’s believed that the canyon was used by horse thieves and cattle smugglers to hide stolen livestock more than 100 years ago. Despite the uninviting name, the badlands are worth a visit.

Lunch time

🍽️ The Sunny Spot

Thursday to Sunday daw sila merong burgers so since gutom na kami, nag-settle na kami sa poutine.

Pinay yung nasa cashier at ma-chika sya. Sa trailer daw sila nakatira. Technically retired na sya and parang side gig nya lang mag-work dito. Pag peak months, tulad ngayon, working sya. Pero from October to March, nasa Pinas sila. Sarap!

Back to pasyal

📍 Hoodoos

Maliit sya sa personal pero nung nag read up ako about hoodoos, ang interesting pala kung pano sya nag-form sa ganitong shape.

The hoodoos are formed over hundreds of years through erosion from freezing, frost, melt and wind. The hard rock “hat” on the top of the hoodoos protects the soft layer of sandstone underneath from completely eroding away.

Around 1PM.
Some photoshop magic ✨ This is before.
After 😆
Blending in with the rocks

Shopping Time II

📍 CrossIron Mills Outlet Mall

Sulitin ang murang tax haha! Bumalik uli kami sa outlet mall dahil nga napagsarahan kami kahapon at di pa namin nabibili ang mga plano naming bilhin.

My faveee

Nag-biryani sila and I had samosa and leftover shish & beef kebab salad.

Where I write my blog posts 😄
