November Recap

November 28, 2025

Nabilisan ako sa buwan na ‘to. November felt like two things:

  1. Malapit na ang US barkada trip namin (our flight was November 7th)

and

  1. Tapos na ang US barkada trip namin (we flew back November 18th)

Pero since kasama namin si Benson pabalik ng Calgary, tapos lumabas pa kami nung 19th and 22nd, parang na-extend pa rin yung trip somehow. November 28 na ngayon, and I’m still writing about this recent trip of ours. Kakatapos ko nga lang manood ng isang LA vlog nung minsan. Needless to say, hindi pa rin ako nakaka-move on. Tapos next week, December na! Parang lumipad lang talaga yung November.

October Recap

After a very tiring September, October was super chill. Sabi ko gusto ko naman ng maraming alone time this month, and that’s exactly what I got. Andami kong nabasang libro (I think finishing 5 books in a month was a personal best), dami kong sinubukan na bagong recipes, I went back to baking, andami ko ring nasulat. While all of that sounds like a dream, sana sa November magka-trabaho na ko. All this free time is already making me antsy.

Q3 Recap + Happy Anniversary!

I didn’t even realize that my Gleniz da Menace newsletter just turned a year old! I still have my occasional once-or-twice-a-month free posts, but September last year I started making these exclusive posts to help support this ancient blog of mine.

Though I am fairly consistent with my creative output here, I am sluggish in a business sense and find discomfort in promoting this paid newsletter too much. So if you find enjoyment in what I write here, I hope you’ll consider a paid subscription. If you’re wondering if it’s worth it, here’s a note from one of the early subscribers:

I shared this with Kenneth and tried reading the message out loud to him but failed ‘cos I started crying. Thank you for your generous words 🥺

Q2 Recap

The last few months have been very difficult—it still is—and I continue to maneuver through this extremely tricky feeling called grief. I just want to say thank you to everyone who expressed their sympathies. Whether I managed to give a decent response or not, know that it made the heaviness a little bit bearable.

March Recap

Out of sorts ako ngayong month na ‘to. Kung ano-anong iniisip ko. Magbabakasyon kasi si Kenneth sa Pilipinas, and although I’m excited for him kasi this is the first time na uuwi sya since nag-move kami dito sa Canada 7 years ago, I will be lying kung sasabihin kong 100% excitement yung nararamdaman ko. I’m just overall worried. Plus first time kong magsosolo sa bahay at hindi ko alam kung anong i-eexpect. Sobrang maiinip ba ko? Magiging mabait ba si Kenneth? Baka may mag-break in dito sa bahay! Kenneth will be gone for 3 weeks and being alone here—especially in this new city—is a foreign concept to me.

February Recap

Sobrang distracted ko panonood ng Crybaby unboxing videos nung mga nakaraang araw na andami kong na-postpone na little tasks, like this monthly recap. Ngayon medyo nag-settle down na yung obsession ko sa Crybabies, but it got replaced by a live feed of bald eagle parents feeding their eaglets. Sooo cute! And I really can’t believe it! Nagugulat na lang si Kenneth pag napapasigaw ako ng malakas.

“AHHHH! OOOMMMMGGGG!!”

“Bakit?”

“NAG-HATCH NA RIN YUNG PANGATLONG EGG!!!”

“Sabi na nga ba eh.”

Cute!!!

The first year I tuned in, bugok yung eggs. None of the three eggs hatched. It was quite heartbreaking. The following year, the same thing happened. Then this year, I was barely tuning in (to avoid another heartbreak) when I saw on my feed that the eggs were starting to hatch! Agghhh! I’m just so happy—that I can’t help writing about it in Ramblings #52. The feeling was just too intense. What an amazing thing to witness. I love watching the feeding sessions and wanting to make sure that all three eaglets are being fed equally (as dominant eaglets tend to get the majority of the food). Okay, I’ll stop with the eagle talks now and get on with last month’s recap.

October Recap

I knew October would be a great month, and it did not disappoint 🤍

Halloween 🎃

The major thing that happened this month was our first US trip! I think almost all of my October entries are related to this trip. And yes, hindi pa rin kami nakakamove on ni Kenneth. We still talk about it every chance we get 😂

OCTOBER DIGEST
  • I think I might have overshared when I wrote about *toot* in my life updates. I’m trying to imagine it from a reader’s perspective and wondering if it was a bit too much. Personally, I don’t feel any shame or awkwardness—probably because I know that only 5 people will have access to it hehe. Either way, I’m just concerned about the reader’s threshold for TMI.
  • We were still in the US when I wrote my Thursday letter, so I talked a little bit about our experience going to Billie Eilish’s concert and how we were enjoying our vacation.
  • Had fun doing our quarterly expense report, especially creating the visuals for it. The most refreshing part was sharing our real numbers.

Though a bit tedious, I also shared how much we spent on our US trip. I found myself a bit puzzled when I saw the total. Ganito ba talaga dapat? It was enlightening, to say the least. Speaking of expenses, I also shared my NYC haul. It’s mostly stationery goods.
  • I’m enjoying writing so so much right now. I talked about my commonplace book a few days ago and how I call it my ‘life notes’.

As always, thank you for reading.

September Recap

Ambilis! Nabibilisan din ba kayo? Parang kelan lang nung umuwi akong Pilipinas. Di ako makapaniwala na February pa pala yun. Tapos ilang araw na lang October na. Magpapasko na! Ambilis!

Reflecting on September, I feel like this month was full of hope. Hope for my Mama’s health to get better and better, hope for my career (whatever that will be), hope that someone will subscribe to my paid newsletter (thank you ulit), and hope for better outcomes that are yet to unfold. As a recovering pessimist, I thought being an optimist was the better option—but being hopeful feels more true and grounded.

SEPTEMBER DIGEST
  • I started a paid tier here on my blog! I’ve always wanted to start a Patreon or a Substack, but why not just do it here? I am more comfortable here and it’s just easier. This idea has been building up for years, and I finally acted upon it. Aside from my friends’ encouragement, this is my why.
  • Expressed how I miss and love my younger sisters 🤍 My tall sister and my other tall sister from another mother who just turned 18. I wrote her ‘18 Things I Wish I Knew When I Was 18’ as my second birthday gift and we had a cry fest!
  • Did a breakdown of my weekly expense in ‘What I Spend in a Week’ and shared my savings goal for a future trip
  • Thoughts on journaling and exclusive journal pages
  • Also made a ‘Happy Things’ list after a long while, and some life updates which include things I’m excited about and my money worries.

As always, thank you for reading.
