The last few months have been very difficult—it still is—and I continue to maneuver through this extremely tricky feeling called grief. I just want to say thank you to everyone who expressed their sympathies. Whether I managed to give a decent response or not, know that it made the heaviness a little bit bearable.
APRIL DIGEST

- Pinalaki naman akong achiever ng lola ko, pero hindi ko alam bakit hindi ako naging career driven nung nagtatrabaho na ko. I wrote I Was Born in the Wrong Era kasi hindi ako maka-relate sa mga gustong maging TL, boss, manager, supervisor, etc.
- Ever since I chose to move abroad at 29, I’ve found myself comparing what I liked and didn’t like about living in the Philippines vs Canada. I also had a little rant about the people who subtly (or not so subtly) implied that we should’ve moved to the US instead.
- It’s almost the end of Q2 and I’m looking forward to do our quarterly report just like I did in Q1 Expenses.
- After being so happy that Kenneth is back from his vacation, I had to take an unexpected trip to the Philippines because of my lola’s critical condition. It was too heavy that I needed to still notice the little pockets of happiness so that I can carry on.
MAY DIGEST
- I learned that on top of Mommy’s already long list of diagnoses, she had cancer too, and I felt numb.
- Distracted myself with skincare.
- After Mommy passed, I wrote about my thoughts on grief, reminisced fond memories with her, and shared how I’ve been coping during this difficult time.
JUNE DIGEST
- In my June Thursday Letter, I realized something unexpected after losing my lola. Turns out, I actually want people checking up on me. I thought I’d want some space and be left alone—apparently not.
- What I Spend in a Week is back. I shared my impulsive tech purchase (a totally justifiable retail therapy) and gave a peek at our emergency fund tracker.
- My grapples in having a “healthy” social life are on full display in Is My Social Life on Life Support? and Listening to Your Gut.
- I’ve been meaning to write about being 35 and I finally got around it: This is 35.
By the end of the questionnaire, I realized that I was already 36 haha! Exactly the point I made in Question #1. - Reminisced a little bit when I revisited my old drafts in From the Drafts Vault.
- I had this random idea of Rating My Hobbies and shared my top 3 picks out of the 25 on the list. All I’m gonna say is, I won’t be picking up a new hobby anytime soon.
